|| Evil Eye Pendant and Pin finishes

The Evil Eye pendants were made in three finishes. Polished Gold plating, Bronze and iRhodium. The finishes vary vastly in look and durability. Please be sure to select the appropriate finish for your needs. The information below should be used to help decide which is best for you.

A note about Nickel: In my research for different finishes, I found that much of the population is allergic to nickel! I had my pendants made without nickel. A lot of costume jewelry is made with some amount of nickel in it. The US has failed to ban the use of nickel in jewelry but will hopefully come around on day soon. Most other countries and the European Union prohibit the use of nickel in jewelry. While my Lapel pin is nickel since it won't be resting against your skin, it does not pose a problem for allergic reactions.

iRhodium: Imitation Rhodium or white bronze. This is a common mixture of tin and other metals for platinum look. It is relatively hard and white in color. Real Rhodium is used to plate yellow gold. Real Rhodium is a very hard, very expensive metal found in platinum ore. Real rhodium is much more expensive than platinum which is why imitation rhodium is used some costume jewelry. You get the look of White gold for a very low cost.

Bronze: This is, well, bronze. Bronze is a mixture of tin and copper. Bronze is a dark copper color and is a hard, durable metal.

Polished Gold Plate: This is very thin plate over a base metal such as bronze. It is a bright, shiny gold color. The plating is very thin and will wear off quite quickly due to its softness. This is not recommended for daily wear. The finish will wear off much too quickly. This finish is much more suited to be left hanging as an attractive talisman warding off the Evil Eye Curse.

All finishes will show some level of wear after time. The more often it is worn, the sooner some wear will show. Most wear will be around the finding. My pendants feature a mirror image on front and back. This can help distribute any wear. While the polished gold will wear quickly, iRhodium and Bronze are pretty durable and don’t seem to wear excessively.

While I always wear and never take my pendant off, I do not recommend you do the same. I like seasoned look of my gold and bronze pendants. My iRhodium has not shown any wear yet.
